There are mentors, then there are “dream list” mentors. Dream list mentors are the mentors you’d pick if you could choose any mentors on the planet. Landing these kinds of “dream list” mentors takes audacity and connections. But it’s certainly doable.

When Facebook was still in its infancy with just a few million members, Mark Zuckerberg decided he wanted to make it a platform. He wanted developers to be able to build apps on the platform.

He asked one of his mentors if he could put him in touch with others who’ve developed platforms. His mentor said he might be able to put him in touch with some developers who’ve built a platform in the past.

Zuckerberg said: “I was thinking more along the lines of Bill Gates.”

His mentor scoffed at him. Here he was, running a startup social network with far less traffic than MySpace and he wanted Bill Gates to teach him how to build a platform?

4 Ways To Market The Unknown Vision

Pictured below I am with my mom and my hubby at my first signing in 2009. I took my time, I scouted my market, I listened. I made connections before the book was completed. I supplied based on a need.

That night I sold over 200 books and over 300 online. About 40% of the people who came I did not know. I walked into libraries handed out fliers, met with PTA teams, went into unemployment offices, passed out fliers at nail salons, beauty shops, parking garages, Girls Scout meetings, met with Day Care center directors and all. You have to do more than post on Facebook.

The ground work to make that special connection is vital. After the signing, I was called to do my first TV interview on ABC News Money Matters. Don’t commit brand suicide because you are rushing to put out a premature product and not doing the work to get results.

4 ways you can build the buzz around your vision:

1. Write it out via blogging. I blogged about everything pertaining to moms leaving their jobs, moms who were working on a side hustle. I made friends with as many mom business owners and mommy bloggers. It takes time to establish your blog but the results are well worth the effort. Keep your social media messages fun, light and informative…leave the heavy conversation for your videos or conference calls.

What does Callan Rush and Miley Cyrus have in common? Marketing Brilliance

The biggest challenge that almost all women business owners face is filling their pipeline with clients. No clients means no money, no money means you have an expensive hobby.  In order to fill your pipeline with the right clients you are going to have to have a “beast mode” marketing plan.  This is an area most of my clients really struggle in. The idea creation is comes easy to them, the marketing on the other hand is a thorn in their side.

Your marketing plan requires a kick butt strategy, fearless execution and a few good friends. Exactly what kind of marketing plan depends on the value you are selling.  Once you know the value you are marketing and the problem it will solve, then you will be able to figure out how you are going to reach them.

The next thing you are going to have to determine early on is your product or services unique difference. Trying to sell exactly the same thing as your neighbor aka competitor is a ‘crabs in the barrel’ way to do business.  The only thing that you can compete on is prices and rates. There needs to be something uniquely different about your product or service that sets you apart other than price.

Callan launched her book on November 7th and has been executing powerfully ever since.  Her organic marketing plan has taken internet marketing by storm based on three things.

1. The Big Give: She is giving away loads of information and tips and strategies on getting wealthy by conducting successful workshops. She is giving so many golden nuggets daily, and really bringing her book to life. She is offering her book for free, conducting webinars and tele-seminars for free. She is allowing people to download all kinds of assessments and templates for free. She is giving away so much, it forces you to spread the word because it’s…..free.  Her list is being built and her name is being spread like wild-fire.

2. Build and Borrow Power: Callan is the talk of the marketing town as Miley Cyrus is the talk of the music industry.  She has connected with industry leaders who are at the top of their game, who have big list, who have power of influence. Callan has partnered with them to share her solution to a major problem many of their clients have.  She made it clear that her product and services is designed for a particular audience; coaches, consultants, authors, speakers, or workshop leaders. Therefore her clarion approach is makes it easier for others to open their networks featuring her as an expert in ONE solution.

3. Consistency:  I have over 23 messages starting from November 7th Callan launched her book to the world for FREE. She has used all no cost and low-cost facets to market. No fancy website, no extra bells and whistles, just consistent content.  Callan has embraced YouTube, Social Media, Email Blast, Webinars, Tele-seminars, PDF downloads, etc..

Keep The Fire Burning

Often times I would attend a conference and after the conference the momentum is lost. After all that hard work that the host goes through in order to put on a stellar event it is lost in time and people are now looking for the next big thing. In my experience in planning the Activate Conference, I felt like I was planning a wedding. Post conference is when the executing the vision started. Just like a marriage, after the big day when you declare your “I Do’s”, the real work begins when you come back from your honeymoon. It is my responsibility to keep the momentum going and the fire burning.  I consider the Activate Conference an experience that will continue to offer great information and ongoing edu-tainment until we meet again.

Get out of the “Waiting Room” in your life

Most people are uncomfortable speaking their truth.

Most people are afraid to step into their power.

Most people get frightened at the thought of  embracing a new mindset. I know I was when it was time for me to come out of my shell and share my most intimate and valuable life lessons.  The moment I embraced my expertise and life experiences my world changed. New Author Tip #3 Write Three Paragraphs Per Day

New Author Tip #3 Write Three Paragraphs Per Day

Write just three paragraphs, describing the problem and the solution based on your subject. Do this every day for the next 30days. The problem may remain the same, or you can choose a different problem and a different solution to write about.  This is a formula works like magic for non-fiction books. If you are writing a fiction book, consider picking one character, one scene at a time and start to set the tone for your book. Write just three paragraphs a day about it or about them.

For example: Low self esteem for a college freshman is the problem–write about this in detail.  Then write about the solution–based on your research, experience and expertise how this problem can be solved?

But here’s the catch: you must do it every day. No days off, no vacations, no weekends or holidays, no me-time. You will write at least three new paragraphs every day.

There are no restraints on this formula. This is the recipe to getting the chapters completed and getting the book done.  I call this “free writing”. Be free in your writing; don’t worry about structure and placement. Just pick one problem and a solution to match and write it out. Consider carrying a paper journal or recorder on your day to day travels, three paragraphs at a time.

Carry it with you and you might find that your three paragraphs isn’t enough for the day and you can write one or two more in the course of the 24 hour day.

After you complete your first three paragraphs, date it, label it and don’t read it until the end of 30days. Give your work to a critic and have them make notes on the paragraphs and don’t read the notes until the end of 30days. Why? Because we want to avoid writers block, self sabotage and being overly emotional from the critics point of view.  The critic can be your friend, another writer or someone in your target market that you now, like and trust.

Change your leadership position: Lead-hers vs. Need-hers

In business and in life it is imperative for us to look at our position that we hold in the hearts and minds of the people we come in contact with and determine, whether we are showing needy tendencies or leadership qualities.  If you want more out of life, love, family, friends, health and even in your faith you must position yourself in a way that fosters positive changes.

 

Lead-hers are those who are going to make things happen and push against the grain.  They also raise up other lead-hers on the way. They have high determination and low levels of procrastination.

Need-hers are those who are waiting for things to change, shift and happen.  They sit around waiting for someone or something to save them. They have high expectations and low activation.

Someone is waiting for you to be a Lead-her. You never know you just might save someone’s life.
