3 Sure-fire Ways to Make Really Bad Life Decisions

MVI_8880.MOV.00_03_54_17.Still002When we set out to achieve our goals and reach our milestones in life we can be sure on at least one thing – there will be difficult decisions that need to be addressed.

In fact, my #Activate rule of thumb states that if there are no difficult decisions on the table, then the milestone is minor and the goal is too small!

When it is time to make a decision in life we are placed in a position called POWER. We get a chance to choose what to do next and what happens next. Often our first reaction to the most difficult decisions is to “push it under the rug” but we all know that’s not productive.

The next response is often times to bully ourselves into stressful energy, but that never seems to work either. We’re much better off with the solution I call “Let It Flow.”

F- Free your mind and go into silence. Quiet the inner chatter so that the truth can speak.

L- Let go of the need to be right. Let go of the fear of being wrong, and the pride to have control. (more…)

Monday Motivation: 4 Tips To Finally Finish What You Started

Finish What You StartedDuring the half time in a game, the entertainment comes out, the players get a rest, the coach reviews the game plan and motivates the team, a discussion happens as to who is not performing at the highest and best, and whether or not they need more defense.  There is a lot of activity going on during half time that motivates the players to finish the game with intentions to win.

  1. Plan Out Your Time: If your intentions are to win, win, win, no matter what, then moving past the half time to the finish line is important.  Beginning a new thing or a new project is exciting, but you must be selective with your time and how you use it.  Keep the end result in mind. I like to create a small vision board for my major goals with a list of of my minor goals that will get me closer to accomplishing my major goal. Each major goal should have a timeline and focus days that you dedicate to your completion date.
  2. Get Rid Of Perfectionism: What happens when starters get to the half-way mark is perfectionism. Perfectionism leads to procrastination and gets in the way of making it to the finish line. When procrastination takes over you no longer see yourself at the finish line. You begin to get tired and overwhelmed. The best way to get rid of perfectionism is to keep it moving with a sense of urgency.
  3. Commitment Is Key: Give yourself permission to end a project if it’s really not in line with your vision.  If you are at the half way mark in your project, focus on finishing what you started. Take this time to look at the game plan and see what needs to be changed, added or omitted. How you started may not be the way you finish. Some of the team and support you started with may not be there with you at the finish line. That’s why half time is so important.
  4. Make A Plan And Work Your Plan: Rely on your half time strategy, planning and process, not your own willpower. You want to create a mindset and working environment (associates, partners, volunteers, advisors) that will pull you and push you forward towards the finish line. Answer the following questions:
  • What do you need to do to stick to the plan?
  • What is the outcome you desire?
  • What will it look like when you have attained the desired result?
  • What will it feel like when you have reached your goal?
  • Who will you be celebrating or sharing this moment with?
  • Where will you be sharing the moment?
  • How will your life be different from that way it is now when you have crossed the finish line?
  • What aspects of your life so you have to overcome or change in order to cross the finish line?

Half Time Tip: if you want to stay motivated to complete what you have started, to move past half time, then you must do one thing.  Celebrate. Celebrate during half time; congratulate yourself at that midway mark.  This will heighten your motivation and determination to complete your project.

The Moment You Discover Your Strengths, Is the Moment You…

You know too much to turn back now. You’re on purpose, you answered the call, you said YES to your assignment. It’s too late…you are now in the Danger Zone. Dangerously on purpose, dangerously on fire, focused and dangerously free…It’s on now and there is nothing they can do about it. Say “it’s too late, I’m already here”? Lucinda Cross

This week I challenge you to Stand up and Speak up. Start with confronting any fears you have.  Once you confront your fears then you can truly create the life you desire and that takes time.

Snap Out Of It! It’s Time To Rise!

Reason #10 to attend the Activate Conference:

Good is no longer enough. It’s time to do better.

You’ve tried and pushed and made some progress. That’s good. But there’s so much more for you to accomplish. You’ve got big dreams that need to be conquered and it’s not going to happen overnight. You’ve set goals that need to be reached and they’re nothing to “shake a stick” at. This means that good is no longer enough. It’s time to do better.

The Activate Conference is your tool to doing better. You’ll be surrounded by people who have embraced their progress and are very proud of all of the blood, sweat and tears they’ve put into books, messages, relationships, businesses and personal achievements. These people started out with a vision that has evolved into a passion and ultimately, the passion has turned into a purpose. But what’s even more powerful about the Activate Conference attendees, speakers, ambassadors and volunteers is that they’ve made a vow to turn it up a notch. They are taking serious strides to go from good to better. You deserve to be one of these people!

The truth is, it’s easy to settle with thoughts of being in a “good place”. Nothing is broken. So why should you bother fixing it? The answer is simple. If you honestly felt that your “good place” was enough, you wouldn’t spend as much time as you do fantasizing, journaling, sharing, building, observing, wishing or hoping. You’d be just fine where you are. The mere fact that you’re looking forward to something—anything— means you are ready and willing to go from good to better.

So you’ve got the readiness and willingness. Now all you need is to be able to go from good to better. The Activate Conference provides you with the ability. You will connect, grow and build. You will hone in on strengths you have pushed aside or refused to accept. You will shake hands, exchange business cards and conversations. You will learn and become activated. You will walk away knowing you have all of the power to go from good to better.

Are You A Disciplined Lead-her?

When it comes to showing up in the world there is a movement called “Authenticity” that is forcing itself upon almost every woman seeking change. Part of the movement involves us as women to embrace change and be transparent with ourselves in order to show up in an impactful and meaningful manner.

The role that most women are being called to is a new form of leadership that I call Lead-her-ship.  This forces each and every woman to remove their limiting beliefs and embrace their greatness, all while leading the next woman to the water. This forces each woman to be the change. This forces each and every woman to unplug from any dogmas, associations and lackluster activities and motives.

That is the disciplined Lead-her…

She knows when to show up and how

She shares her wisdom

She is free

She takes responsibility

She steps up to the plate

She demands respect and gives it

She watches her language and guards her conversation

She believes in investing in herself

She has faith and a vision

She is focused and determined

She is willing to say NO and she is willing to share

Are you a disciplined Lead-her?

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”  Mark Twain (1835-1910)

Get a new ’tude

Yep, you need a new attitude if you are walking around with stinking thinking and expecting other people to cover up the funk. Please change your attitude towards your situation so that you can see the goodness and greatness in what you already possess.  In order to maximize and leverage your personal or professional life, you have to be grateful for what you have and who you are becoming.

Why should your business increase if your attidue is the same? Why should your marriage improve if your attitude is still the same? Why should you be called and chosen if your attitude is the same ole stinky thinking?  Get over yourself and move on.

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home.” Charles Swindoll

I had a conversation with someone who often times goes into a complaining spree.  She complains that things are not working out, that she can’t find a job, that she hates where she lives, that she is tired of “making do” and needs some real money.

Now I am completely sympathetic to her needs and her cry.  But the pity party is where I draw the line. Let’s do a little compare and contrast.

Compared to someone sleeping on a concrete floor or wooden bench, she has a warm bed and clean sheets.

Compared to the dirt under that pan-handlers nails and the hole in her sneakers, she has a $45 french gel tips and $18 pedicure.

Compared to the  bedbugs, this child lost everything from being in shelter after shelter, she has $75 hair extensions and a perm, including the extra $$$ to get conditioner.

Compared to her Victoria Secret bra and the lady who just got the news that she has to have a mastectomy.

Oh here is one more….

Compared to the fact that she graduated school and has skills she can build on, compared to the child who doesn’t know how to read because she was told to quit school and work.

I think most people need to have a gratitude check.  When you look at the comparison above who has the advantage? Who needs a new attitude of gratitude?

We do need to realize that God does not give us more than we can bare, and this too shall pass.

What are you grateful for? Go ahead and take 2 seconds to post it…take time to do a gratitude check right here, right now.

3 Easy tips to “do you” & leave the phone home

A huge part of being productive at your personal development goals is to take time out for you. There is a beautiful word to describe being in the good company of oneself: solitude.  It simply means not being by yourself, but with yourself.  It’s the blossoming of independence and the path to cultivate inner strength.

How awesome is that?

Make time to “do you” even if you have to pencil yourself in on the calendar.  Trust me it will help you to clear your mind.  It will feel like you hit the reset button.

Do you feel like you are too busy to think?

How often do you decide to do something for yourself only to find yourself still in a position doing something for someone else?

Have you tricked yourself into believing that you were going to relax and release but you constantly are responding to text messages and emails?

Let me help you out a bit my friend, especially if you are on the writing binge for the month of August.

Tip #1: Leave the phone at home

Okay I already hear you making all kinds of excuses of why you need your phone. What if something happens to the kids? What if my mom calls? What if I get stranded? Keep bringing up all the reasons why you need to have your phone with you 24/7. Sounds like you need a tech detox. it may feel weird at first going on a date by yourself but, get over the uncomfortable feeling and embrace the time.

Tip #2: Leave the phone home

Leave the phone home so you don’t have anyone calling you and interrupting your tan, your massage, your meal or you thoughts.  I dread the calls that go like this, “babe, where is the ketchup?” or “babe, do you know where the remote is?”, uggghhhhhh. If there is an emergency at home, the only thing you can do is pray that everything is okay and when you get home just hope and pray that all the kids have their body parts in tact and no one is bleeding, the fire department is not in front of your house and your 2 year old is not playing in your makeup bag. Other than that enjoy yourself. Bring your journal, bring your inspirational music or CD.

Tip#3: Leave the phone home

How often have you seen people on a date or walking togther and they are on their phones texting, tweeting and posting? I remember taking myself out for a nice walk and of course I had my phone with me and instead of walking and meditating, I started to take pictures for my blog, I started to ask other people to take a picture of me.  I was tweeting and texting until I walked into a pile of dung while texting….that was it for me…my casual relaxing walk turned into a embarrassing dung washing by the hydrant.

New Author Tip #4 Eliminate Time Wasters

New Author Tip #4 Eliminate Time Wasters

I want you to identify three to five time wasters and get rid of them. If you are an email junkie, Quit! If you are a phone addict, Quit! If you are spending too much time doing a bunch of minor task, Stop!

Take a look at how you spend your time, and honestly assess your time usage. It will be hard for you to complete your book and all the task that is needed to effectively promote, sell and position your book for success if your all over the place. The thing I hear most often from soon-to-be authors is “I don’t have enough time to write!” And guess what…that’s why they remain “soon-to-be authors.”

Not enough time?

When you really want something you make the time. If you are truly committed, you will make time for something you truly desire. If not, then you are just kidding yourself and wasting your own time just adding on more task that you don’t plan on completing.

I want you to write down a writing schedule.  Schedule regular time slots to work on your book and your marketing plan. If you’re a morning person get up an hour earlier. Usually around 5am/6am, the hour right before the sun rises is one of the most creative times of day. If you’re a night owl, such as myself, stay up an hour later and get to work. Either way, give yourself a regular slot of at least sixty minutes per day (2 hours is even sweeter) three to five time per week.

If you have children, schedule your time to work when they are doing their activities or take them to the park. Find a way to make it happen. The most important thing is to get into a rhythm and stick with it. Don’t use children, family, job or some other excuse for not writing your book. They are the reason you should write your book…think Legacy…think Generation…think Catalyst!

Mindsturbation may be stopping you from???

Mega Mind

The Road to Redemption:

Overcoming life’s obstacles, roadblocks, detours and challenges

How to use this book: If you decide to dive in and out of this book expecting a miracle, you have just picked up the wrong book. If you decide to act occasionally on the suggested strategies, you will undoubtedly receive some benefit but it is highly unlikely that you will experience a transformation. In my experience, mindsturbation is the major difference that separates those who receive remarkable results and experience a major transformation from those who enjoy spurts of success. Mindsturbation is a combination of motivation and temporary mental stimulation. People looking for a temporary feel-good will find innumerable ways not to do the recommended success strategies.

The Road To Redemption is more than just another shelf item that you can read to get a quick fix, steps to, or how to advice book. This is a story of REDEMPTION. This is a process. Activation is required; the change does not happen overnight and requires you to focus fully on your destination in life. Many of us have become so self-sabotaged that we are just tired of being tired. Many of us have given up too soon, right before our breakthrough in life. Many of us have lost our hope and faith and have pulled back from being spiritually connected. Many of us have been motivated and empowered to experience only confusion, loneliness, self-doubt, and feelings of unworthiness. This has opened the door to saying yes, when we wanted to say no, to become unproductive because we allowed distractions and competition to hinder the completion of our process.

The Road to Redemption is designed to teach us to check our character, spiritual beliefs, mindset, relationships, and skill sets. Too often, our intellectual assets are underdeveloped, underutilized, or underperformed. The Road to Redemption will help you reach, stretch, grow, and propel into becoming the greatest and best YOU.
