Vision Boards

NYPOST Interview: The Woman Who Made A Career Out Of ‘Vision Boards’

For some, the road to success is paved with gold or graduate degrees. For Lucinda Cross, it was glitter and cardboard.

It has been a road with detours and potholes, plans hatched and revised. But if you ask where Cross got the idea for the business that would one day land her in the pages of Essence Magazine and on NBC’s “Today” show, she’ll tell you, without shame or drama: Inspiration came to her in a jail cell.

“Whether you look at it from a spiritual or scientific aspect, this world is a huge vision board. Everything that’s here is because it started as an image someone had in their mind. You want to call it a blueprint, or a business plan? Fine. But first, they had to think about it and draft it. So a vision board? It’s like selling our own ideas to ourselves.”

Procrastination Rally: Setting Goals

20150213_205804What are you waiting for?

I am starting a Procrastination Rally.  No More Procrastination. The roof, the roof is on fire, we don’t need no water let the procrastinator excuses burn, burn down long to do list, burn information hoarders, burn time wasters, burn baby burn.

Research shows that most of us spend up to 80% of our time on activities that have nothing to do with the success of our projects. We load ourselves down with endless tasks that keep us feeling busy, yet at the end of the day we wonder why we have accomplished little to nothing.

“No matter what we do, there will be people around us that will say that it’s crazy, that we shouldn’t do that. I think those people are very important for us. They’re there to find out if we believe in and are committed to doing what we say we’re doing.” ~John Francis

  • Why do we miss deadlines, put off doing things we dislike, and accept stress and procrastination as a necessary part of life?
  • What experiences have shaped the way you think about time?
  • Do you need to rethink your views?
  • If you were asked to speak to a group of students about the best way to use time, what would you say to them?

Please recognize that procrastination is keeping you from achieving all that you can in life.

The Bigger The Vision, The Bigger The Distractions

I want you to take a look at your life and see who or what needs a 72-hour eviction notice. CWP_AVBP-1732Start drafting up your notices this week. We cannot move in action if we allow squatters to take up valuable space.

We are women on the move. Women in action. Women of power. Women who are mothers of this earth. Ask yourself, How much longer am I going to allow people, things and past situations to take up space in my life? If you have BIG dreams and aspirations and you know you have a destiny to fulfill, you must begin within.

Who or What do you need to give a 72-hour notice to? Could it be you, getting out of your own way? Is it your friends, your family, your spouse, your job? Think about it and decide. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.

IMG_0278“Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, or call it a family: Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.” – Jane Howard

Building a team is the single most important thing you can do to elevate yourself which will afford you to stretch yourself and help others . You always need someone in your team that is more knowledgeable than you in a subject, swifter, and more creative. These are the people who can help take you to the next level. They are also known as your success tribe.

Today, I want to share the importance of having a success tribe and how there is power in numbers.

In 2015, a major key I would like you to focus on is having a clear vision and building your IMG_0248tribe. It is important to discover those who will help you carry out your vision. But, it is also vital to know what characteristics you are looking for within your tribe. Personally, I am looking for Activators that are motivated, detailed, humorous, positive, who believes in God and are confident in their skills. Successful leaders really invest in their tribe because they understand that these are the loyal people who will invest their time and even their money to help the vision.  (more…)

My California Experience

10665759_935121063178607_9121418030227173584_n“Small opportunities are often the beginning of great enterprises.”

I believe when you travel to new places, it is a great opportunity to learn new things. I recently visited California this past weekend to speak as a keynote for The Bounce Back To Your Brilliance Live Conference in LA, an awesome event presented by Angel Tyree. I want to share with you my take away from my Hollywood experience.

You ready for it….there is a big difference between being  Seen OnFeatured InMentioned and Quoted, when it pertains to media. How does this pertain to you? People often misuse media terminology in order to appear more credible or leverage their platform. However, this can be harmful  for their career. Terminology and the correct use of verbiage is so important.

Here are the differences…

If someone is Seen On, you can simply Google their name and BOOM the show they mentioned being a part of will appear. Seen On should reference television, web series or any visual media.

Featured In, you also can do a Google search and there should be a page with name, picture or an interview that features the individual. This may be in the form of online or in print. This does not include quotes and one liners, this is a full feature about a person and their story. Majority of the time you will see an image accompanying the write up.

Quoted is just that, a person being quoted for their expertise or knowledge with their name attached and should not be mixed up with the above stated.

Mentioned is when a writer or editor mentions or references a person in their content.

It was bought to my attention by several agents and media moguls that they were excited to read about my integrity in the use of my media mentions and how it makes a difference in decisions. Major networks cringe when a person uses their logos and brands unethically and to someones advantage. In order to receive more awareness make sure you reference your media mentions in the way you were featured, mention, quoted or seen. Trust me it makes a difference to the media sharks seeking talent. You can bamboozle the people but the industry will know the truth. Make sure you don’t misuse terminology for short term success. We don’t want to jeopardize ourselves for greater opportunities.

We are accepting applications for the Activate Your Vision Mastermind that kicks off in March. Click here for more information http://lucindacross.com/activatemastermind2015/

What is your Vision?

IMG_0269This past week, you saw Chief Activator, Best Selling Author, Speaker and Spokesperson Mrs. Lucinda Cross on the Today Show with Tamron Hall discussing Vision Boards and how essential they are in making your dreams become a reality. However, before you go get magazines, a board, markers, glue, and friends…. You must first know your vision, your purpose, and your journey.

Merriam – Wesbter defines the word vision as, “a clear idea about what should happen or be done in the future”. So having a clear idea of where you want to be and why it is important is paramount when it comes to aligning your life to watch your seeds grow. We all have envisioned ourselves as millionaires, celebrities, Broadway stars, and/or winning a Grammy, but can we, honestly, say that we have fully thought out and analyzed the sacrifices that will have to take place before we can appreciate and accomplish these goals. Vision boards are the start of your visionary journey to help guide you to what you deemed necessary achieve this year, within five years, or within a lifetime. One thing Tamron Hall pointed out on Lucinda’s vision board on the Today’s Show is that “NBC” was on posted. Lucinda did not know that she would eventually be a guest, but she envisioned the dream, aligned herself with her direction, understood her purpose and activated her life to make her board come true.

In the latest blog, “Your “Vision Board” is not an Ouija Board”, she discusses how “Vision Boards are not created to give you answers, they are created to give you the permission and confidence to understand that YOU ARE THE ANSWER..”  Your Board will not come alive, unless you do!! So before you attend that vision board party, really think about your goals, your passion, and what all you need to do to achieve them. Once your vision is clear…. Activate all engines and enjoy the journey to the finish line.

Use of Vision Boards: Your Vision Board is not a Ouija Board

IMG_6007   Your “Vision Board” is not an Ouija Board or a question and answer channeling foreign spirits to answer organic questions that only you hold the answers to. Please leave the spook out of this phenomenal creative visualization process. Vision Boards are designed to be enlightening, inspirational and help individuals have a place to be creative without judgment. There are no set rules to creating your vision board. It only requires an open heart and the power of belief.

IMG_6052Vision Boards are not created to give you answers, it is created to give you the permission and confidence to understand that YOU ARE THE ANSWER. God gave you the answers for free. LOL

IMG_6008Vision Boarding is a tool I used while in a hopeless place and it helped me to look at what I could be, the places I could go, and the things I could accomplish. It gave me a sense of freedom. Oftentimes we place restrictions on what we believe we can be, do and have.

“Make the decision to give yourself the gift of your own time as you explore the happiness that is within you. It doesn’t cost a thing and it’s full of the greatest riches!” Jane Beach

IMG_6085Many of us go through life with restrictions that places other people’s agenda on your time from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to sleep. Some of us are not even sleeping because we are so busy with other people’s claims on our mind, living a life of chaos to meet other people’s needs and less focus on fulfilling our purpose, visit thelockboss.ie to know more.

Here are some ways to use your vision board for inspiration:

  • Help you organize your goals
  • Help you focus on taking action daily and completing your to do list
  • Use as a bonding tool with your kids
  • Help to ignite your bedroom and boardroom fire
  • Help you see what dreams you and your mate share
  • Help to focus on company or personal life vision
  • Boost employee moral
  • Finish your book project
  • Jumpstart your business

Stop. Breathe. Relax. Create a Vision Board

My NBC Today Show Debut: Start a vision board to help you reach your goals

IMG_0269Mark Twain once said: The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why. Yesterday I had the honor and pleasure of being a special invited guest on NBC Today Show with Tamron Hall for #Tamron’sTuesdayTrend. I was actually supporting Tamron in the vision board process LIVE. (video replay below)

14 days into the New Year and I already have two major media outlets under my belt. As my vision continues to come to fruition, I realize that in order to make a difference I don’t have to change the whole world. Starting right where I am and breaking my vision up into bite sized pieces and chomping at it is the best way to go.

Creating a vision board will build a sense of accomplishment. It feels good and it feels even better when you see what you It’s amazing what you can get done with having a little creative visualization. Sign up for the next Vision Board Party.

“Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort.” Paul J. Meyer

This actually is a 12 step process that I teach at my Activate Your Vision Board Parties.

Here’s three of the 12 phases:

1. Phase one is creating an Agreement. The agreement is based on the truth of not getting far in life without being productive and taking action towards your goals.

2. Phase two is making a Commitment. This means that you will commit to taking out the time to get clear about your vision and acting on that commitment daily.

3. Phase three is Planning. This requires you to believe the impossible.

As you watch this clip from the Today Show think about how you can start visualizing today for a better tomorrow.

For Tamron’s Tuesday Trend, motivational speaker Lucinda Cross joins TODAY to offer tips on how to fulfill your dreams in the new year, including creating a vision board to focus on your inspiration and motivation.

Vision Board Series: How to Create A Vision Board for LOVE

“Everything that happens to you is a reflection of what you believe about yourself. We cannot outperform our level of self-esteem. We cannot draw to ourselves more than we think we are worth.” ? Iyanla Vanzant

DSC_0516“Love
So many people use your name in vain
Love
Those who faith in you sometimes go astray
Love
Through all the ups and downs the joy and hurt
Love
For better or worse I still will choose you first” ~Musiq Soulchild – Love

20150105_102402

Exactly 1 year later my man, now husband showed up at the most unexpected time, and was completely opposite from the type of guy I would’ve normally dated. He was completely out of my comfort zone. Dressed different, talked different and had different mannerisms. He was what my girlfriends would call a “square.”

20150105_102345

What I had to embrace during this Love process was the reality that the love I was seeking is the love I had to first find within myself. I had to work on Lucinda. That meant getting rid of my craziness and limiting beliefs about men. Try it! Make a decision to BE LOVE and then draft out your King or Queen. Just to think we are on Pg. 85 in front of millions of readers.

“Of all the people that you will know in a lifetime, you are the only one that you will never leave nor lose. To the questions of your life, you are the only answer. To the problems of your life, you are the only solution.” -Jo Coudert

Things to remember when creating your Love board:

  • Always put your picture on your board as a signature.
  • Make a list of the characteristics of the person you wold like to attract. Keep the inner qualities in mind vs. the outer appearance.
  • Find words and images that represent the relationship you desire.
  • Choose images that reflect love, family sitting at the table eating, praying, playing in the park, couple on romantic vacation, etc.
  • Ask God to teach you how to love and how to receive love

There are so many types of vision boards that you can create, not just vision boards focused on goals and things you desire. You can create a Career Board, Relationship Board, Business Board, etc. Register for my next Vision Board to be held in Ft. Lauderdale Feb. 7th by clicking on this link. http://lucindacross.com/trainingcourses/visionboardparty/
