Is the “Nice Girl Syndrome” Sabotaging You?

Nice For What?

Most entrepreneurs stay enthusiastic and ambitious until they are called to get out of their comfort zone and they then become paralyzed with fear. They concern themselves with the criticism of others and begin to throw shade on their own light.

Sounds insane right? Well, it is. Just imagine all the potential wasted in excuse-making, light dimming and lack of confidence. Many entrepreneurs work harder at being nice and liked than nice and paid.

Nice for what, I say.

It is time to give your “nice” self, permission to be:

nice and paid
nice and focused
nice and professional
nice and worthy
nice and confident
nice and shining
nice and winning
nice and…

According to Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office: Unconscious Mistakes Women Make That Sabotage Their Careers. Lois P. Frankel said, Stop making “nice girl” errors that can become career pitfalls, such as:

Mistake #21: Multi-tasking. Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should do it.

Mistake #54: Failure to negotiate. Don’t equate negotiation with confrontation.

Mistake #70: Inappropriate use of social media. Once it’s out there, it’s hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube.

Mistake #82: Asking permission. Children, not adults, ask for approval. Be direct, be confident.

Monday Motivation: How Are You Going to Change the Game?

In order to be a successful chess player, you have to first understand how to play the game. You are probably thinking, Lucinda that is obvious. However, you will be surprised how many people try to jump into a new arena without actually educated themselves on the specific subject.

If you want to be an extraordinary chess player, then I would say observe other successful players or find a mentor to teach you the tricks of the trade. In other words for every new venture you decide to embark on, such as being an entrepreneur or a public speaker, do your homework and study that particular expertise. Also, you should find someone who has traveled the road for advice.

The game of chess requires a player to hone in on their strategic skills and thinking. Therefore, the game seems to be the universal symbol of strategy. Although skills needed in the game of chess can be highly effective in other arenas, if you continuously study the game of chest you can memorize all of the possible moves one can make and all of the possible advancements their opponents can make. Of course, this takes a lot of practice and dedication. However, some fields there is no blueprint and you can’t predict someone’s move thus preparing to make your next. For example, the game of business is unpredictable. Unlike chess, you can’t think of all the possibilities of what may happen and try to find solutions.

The Gift Of Adversity

The gift of adversity.

Sometimes adversity ends in sweet success, and sometimes it’s in the funk of failure.

One thing that we can all agree on is that adversity forces us to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

The adversity that we have to deal with in life challenges us to find our inner strength, and to find strengths we didn’t even know we had, to tackle
problems we had no idea how to solve, and most importantly how to go against the odds.

We come out the other side a different person, with a new perspective and appreciation for life.

We are growing and need to have room for abundance and prosperity.

Ask yourself, How much longer am I going to allow people, things and past situations to take up space in my life? If you have BIG dreams and aspirations and you know you have a destiny to fulfill, you must begin within.

Who or What do you need to give a 72-hour notice to? Could it be you, getting out of your own way? Is it your friends, your family, your spouse, your job? Think about it and decide. You no longer have room for squatters. Join us for the next Activate Your Vision Mastermind to help you stay focused and accountable. Session starts March, 2nd.
