Let God Crown You, Not The Streets.
To all my young girls and young women who believe the streets are loyal.
Being a Trap Queen and chasing fast money is not an aspiration.
No one is going to be there when the cuffs and shackles are put on. Your “street family” don’t visit or can’t visit, they don’t put money on your commissary, they’re not there when your name is stripped to a number and when you have to strip, squat and cough. Your man aka bae moves on to the next chick who is not in the streets. You are left with broken promises, unanswered phone calls and no mail from those you looked out for, fought for, showed up for, left your family for, and spent money on. Those you broke bread with and held down suddenly disappear and you now become a memory and your status becomes forgotten.
Fast cars become a trip on Con Air or a prison bus as you are transported from court or prison to prison. Jewelry and expensive bags become shackles and cuffs. Those brand labels you wear become sweats, tan or orange suits. The streets you once rep and your street family are replaced with cement walls, food that looks like death, steel toilets, dirty cells, 2in thick beds, used panties, women who try to test you mentally, physically and sexually, COs and counselors who take advantage.
You didn’t want to listen to your mother or mother figure when you were a “trap queen” so now that is replaced with a “prison mom” who’s doing lots of time and they show you who to trust and how to do your time.
You learn to adjust and get excited about mail call and commissary days or being moved from a holding facility like MCC to a prison so you can live a little and eat real food. Trading soups for cigarettes or crocheting slippers for snacks.
Trap Queens have to fight for their freedom with a public defender or paid lawyer who goes out for drinks after work with the same prosecutors who work tirelessly to give you a plea deal that is unjust or charges that give maximum sentences.
Wake up! Don’t trade your name for a number. Let God crown you not the streets.

“When we consider the blessings of God—the gifts that add beauty and joy to our lives, that enable us to keep going through stretches of boredom and even suffering—friendship is very near the top.”
As iron sharpens iron, so as a friend sharpens a friend.
A weekend about sisterhood…
“The Passion + Purpose = Profit event on Friday night was super inspiring. The panelists, who included Tiara Williams, Monique Rodriguez, Tamika Mallory, Lucinda Cross, Tashera Simmons, Bershan Shaw and Precious Avorkliyah-Evans, encouraged everyone to put themselves first and do what makes them happy.
Either you can be Passionately Poor or you can be Passionately Profitable. When you are Passionately Poor it means that you are passionate about something, and people see your hard work, but you’re not getting paid. Passionately Profitable is when you are dedicated to your passion and do whatever it takes to brand yourself, and turn that into profits.
Each and every person’s passion is organic. Your Passion is created from what you LOVE plus what you’re GREAT at. If you don’t know what your passion is, you need to get out and experiment with different things you like to do. If you try something you thought you liked and it does not work, you get up and try the next thing, and then the next thing and then the next until you have found your passion.” —Recap article featured in EGL written by @Tawana Coleman, Speak Free Communications

There’s Power In Your Relationships
Every NEW level you aspire, will require a new relationship. God blesses us through our relationships.
We’re all about ending the year strong! Taking inventory of ALL of our relationships (social, professional, platonic, romantic, financial, and spiritual) and assessing if they’re serving us. If they are – keep the momentum going. If they’re not it’s time to adjust accordingly.
The Panel speakers are nationally renowned with expertise in Relationships, Activation & Motivation.
The event is co-ed so feel free to bring your best guy friend, or gal friend!
When we set out to achieve our goals and reach our milestones in life we can be sure on at least one thing – there will be difficult decisions that need to be addressed.
In fact, my #Activate rule of thumb states that if there are no difficult decisions on the table, then the milestone is minor and the goal is too small!
When it is time to make a decision in life we are placed in a position called POWER. We get a chance to choose what to do next and what happens next. Often our first reaction to the most difficult decisions is to “push it under the rug” but we all know that’s not productive.
The next response is often times to bully ourselves into stressful energy, but that never seems to work either. We’re much better off with the solution I call “Let It Flow.”
F- Free your mind and go into silence. Quiet the inner chatter so that the truth can speak.
L- Let go of the need to be right. Let go of the fear of being wrong, and the pride to have control. (more…)
About The Activate Experience:
The fourth annual Activate Experience is a two-day intensive designed to inspire men and women from around the world to make a living, living.
This year’s theme is All or Nothing.
I’m going to let you in on a red hot secret; I believe every man and woman has a vision and a calling. It’s something you were born to do and someone you were born to be. This calling burns so deeply inside your soul you just might catch on fire.
But all too often you compromise your vision because you’re afraid.
Afraid of not being able to make ends meet if you quit your job to pursue your purpose.
Afraid you’ll have to sacrifice family time to work on your dreams, goals and desires.
Afraid you’ll fail and have to go back to your old routine.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
I live to ignite your fierceness and stomp out the fear that is keeping you short changed, overlooked, stoppable, and silent. I’m going cut you loose so you can discover your hidden potential, amplify your voice, and create the life you dream about and no doubt deserve.
And that’s why I created The Activate Experience—to unleash your vision and live on purpose so you live the blazing life of your dreams.
