Unpacking 3 Suitcases of Pain

suitcases

As I prepare mentally, emotionally and spiritually for my very first Activate Conference, I realize that it is very important for me to unpack and unload in order to deliver my best.

Today I will attempt to unpack three cases of pain. For months I walked past these suitcases for they are a constant reminder that my Mother has made her transition. The pain simply overwhelmed me. Truth be told,  I’ve sat up many nights staring at them trying to find the inner strength to unpack them however grief and pain consumed me and I left it for another day.

My Mother’s  transition gifted me with tons of love, loads of memories and three cases of pain. Unpacking these suitcases will be one of the hardest things I have ever done but necessary for my growth.

How many times do we avoid the process because of the pain that may surface or re-surface? As I take the uncomfortable action steps to unpack these suitcases of pain today, my wish is that you do the same.   Take the pain that you have locked in the corner for months or even years, and address it.  Your pain may be the death of a relationship, job, or thoughts that no longer serve your highest interest.

We need you to show up at the Activate Conference without painful baggage and hidden agendas.

Give yourself permission to heal. I have 3 cases of pain and it may take me all day, it may take me another week, but I am determined to unpack and release this part of my process before I greet you on September 20th at the Activate Conference. Let the healing begin one case at a time.

Let the healing begin one case at a time. Today I want you to unpack…

Unpack the suitcase of love and encourage others to do the same

Unpack your strength so that you can knock down walls that keep you from being the person God has called you to be.

Unpack your vision so you can see yourself and the world through God’s eyes

Unpack the process in every situation and be grateful for the lessons behind each one.

Unpack your joy from head to toe, inside and out

Unpack your pride and be willing to ask for help

Unpack healing to help your body and mind be stronger and clear each day

Unpack your song and dance to the beat of the drums and not the drama

Unpack your truth so that faith can take you to amazing places

If this has inspired you to unpack, share this post with your circle of sisters! Hope to see you in September at the Activate Conference http://www.activateconference.com .

Miss you mommy…

You have the authority to be amazing

Reason #7 to attend the Activate Conference:

64315_10201647963063214_1610064995_nYou have given yourself the authority to be amazing.

Excuse me, miss. Yes, YOU reading this blog. Take a look in the mirror.  Stare at yourself really intently. Do you know that you have the authority to be amazing? You don’t need fancy licenses, certificates, degrees or awards. All you need is you.

We allow so many things to define who we are—our materialistic possessions, the people in our lives, the amount of money we earn, and the accomplishments we’ve made. Those things become synonymous with our power. So what happens if those things are stripped from us? Well, we feel as if we have no significance, or better yet, as if we have no authority over our lives. But I’m here to tell you that your existence—your ability to breathe and have a name– is what gives you power. You give yourself the authority to be amazing.

The Activate Conference with Lucinda Cross, reinforces your authority. The speakers, presenters and guests will be a mirror which reflects how amazing you are. Some of you will be reminded that no matter how big your struggle is or the amount of trouble you’ve endured, you still have the authority to reclaim your greatness. Some of you will be given the courage to tell others how amazing you are and make them respect what you are building for yourself. Regardless of who you are, the Activate Conference is meant to help you embrace your authority and show you how to wear it proudly.

If you haven’t yet figured out how to take control over the things that make you so powerful, the Activate Conference is a wonderful place to start. Think about it, you’ll be a in a place filled with people who expect nothing less than for you to show up and be authoritative. These women want you to be courageous, captivating and sensational. So if you haven’t done so already, give yourself the authority to be amazing! You are worth it.

Your Message Has Purpose

Reason #8 to attend the Activate Conference:

images (14)You know your message has purpose and now others need to know it.

When you speak, you want others to listen. When you write, you want others to read it. Why? Because you’ve realized your words move mountains. For you, talking and writing is more than a method of communication, it’s a tool to inspire, educate, uplift and rebuild. Your message doesn’t just show that you’re intelligent. Your message has a purpose and now others need to know it.

The Activate Conference with Lucinda Cross is going to ignite the flame of your words and kindle that fire until your words are explosive! You have a message that has been building from experiences, journeys, the sweet smell of victory and the burning sting of defeat. All of that has marinated into a message and once you learn how to craft it, you’ll be a force to be reckoned with. The Activate Conference will be led by people who have built messages and platforms that reach beneath the surface. It will be attended, by people like you, who know their message has a purpose and they are ready to share it with others.

You’ve probably asked yourself “do my words have weight because they don’t captivate my audience?” or “how can I show people that the story I have is worth listening to and learning from?” The answer is by surrounding yourself with professionals with proven results. You must be in the company of people who know how important it is to build a message, share it with others and watch the sparks fly. The Activate Conference’s speakers and panelists will show you how to enhance your message and brand.  When you attend the conference, you won’t have to worry if your message is strong enough or if people will listen to it. After you leave the conference, all you’ll be thinking about is how you’ll manage the abundance of new speaking requests.

The New Mandate For Female Entrepreneurs

Reason #9 to attend the Activate Conference:

It’ time to replace fear with ferocity.

 1a7991081f279607a3b477f48d26cb0d

Look out behind you! There’s something lurking and if it catches you, it’ll be a disaster! It’s a four letter word…F-E-A-R. Run, girl, RUUUUUUUUNNN!

Fear is like a big, ugly monster waiting to claim you as its victim. It hides and sneaks up on you just when you think you’ve conquered what you’re afraid of. It can stop you in your tracks and make you second-guess and doubt everything you want to do. But you must remember, you can fight back! You have to attack your fear with ferocity.

Admit it. You’ve stopped your progress on several occasions by letting fear take over your actions. You’ve told yourself  “I’m not ready for that yet“ or “I don’t think I can do that”. And whether you believe it or not, those statements are full of fear. The Activate Conference with Lucinda Cross will compel you to face, address and conquer your fears.

When you’re afraid, you need to be comforted and you need to feel empowered. The women at the Activate Conference have faced their fears and are able to show and tell you how to face yours. What’s even more dynamic is that some of the attendees are still running from their fears. BUT they’ve made a decision that they and fear will both arrive at the Activate Conference, but only one of them will walk out alive. Can you guess which one it will be?

Your ferocity is trapped underneath challenges, resentment and self-sabotage. The Activate Conference will help you remove those layers and unleash ferocity which is so bold and so powerful, it’ll make fear run away from you! If you know it’s time to replace your fear with ferocity, then you need to attend the Activate Conference.

Snap Out Of It! It’s Time To Rise!

Reason #10 to attend the Activate Conference:

Good is no longer enough. It’s time to do better.

You’ve tried and pushed and made some progress. That’s good. But there’s so much more for you to accomplish. You’ve got big dreams that need to be conquered and it’s not going to happen overnight. You’ve set goals that need to be reached and they’re nothing to “shake a stick” at. This means that good is no longer enough. It’s time to do better.

The Activate Conference is your tool to doing better. You’ll be surrounded by people who have embraced their progress and are very proud of all of the blood, sweat and tears they’ve put into books, messages, relationships, businesses and personal achievements. These people started out with a vision that has evolved into a passion and ultimately, the passion has turned into a purpose. But what’s even more powerful about the Activate Conference attendees, speakers, ambassadors and volunteers is that they’ve made a vow to turn it up a notch. They are taking serious strides to go from good to better. You deserve to be one of these people!

The truth is, it’s easy to settle with thoughts of being in a “good place”. Nothing is broken. So why should you bother fixing it? The answer is simple. If you honestly felt that your “good place” was enough, you wouldn’t spend as much time as you do fantasizing, journaling, sharing, building, observing, wishing or hoping. You’d be just fine where you are. The mere fact that you’re looking forward to something—anything— means you are ready and willing to go from good to better.

So you’ve got the readiness and willingness. Now all you need is to be able to go from good to better. The Activate Conference provides you with the ability. You will connect, grow and build. You will hone in on strengths you have pushed aside or refused to accept. You will shake hands, exchange business cards and conversations. You will learn and become activated. You will walk away knowing you have all of the power to go from good to better.

Three Lessons Every Woman Can Learn From Paula Deen

paula deenHave you ever been in a situation where you wish you could just disappear like Invisible Woman from Fantastic Four?

Well in this situation, Ms. Deen’s brand is becoming invisible and her reputation is now marred by lack of brand etiquette. Lacking etiquette can and will allow your ignorance to surface which can effect and affect those who believe in you and support you. For those of you who are not aware of what’s going on with the Paula Deen story, check out this article by the NY Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/22/dining/paula-deen-is-a-no-show-on-today.html

I have listed three lessons we can all learn from Ms. Deen’s brand destruction.

Lesson #1: Loose lips sink ships! Please be aware of what you say, who you say it to and how you say it. As you build your platform every choice you make matters. Make a conscious effort to strive for excellence in your actions and in your communication. Think twice before you speak.  Make sure you have trusted advisors on your team who you can flush ideas out with before you communicate them openly to your staff or team members.

Lesson #2: You are the brand! We all have a past. I have a past and it’s important that we own our past. Once you own your past you can connect to the present. Ms. Deen’s brand image connected to the public on screen, but off screen she was disconnected with how to communicate and reference African Americans.  The key here is to know your audience, stay current with cultures and trends to avoid ignorance and humiliation.

Lesson #3: Protect your neck! As you build your platform you will upset some people, the objective should always be to stay away from offensive, derogatory or racial epithets. One commentator on a national news program suggested that Ms. Deen should have atoned for the pain of slavery, given credit to African-Americans who helped influence some of the country food that made her famous and offered a stronger statement against racism. If you say something offensive make a sincere apology and move on.

In each of the following cases: Bill Clinton- infidelity, Jesse Jackson-love child, Vanessa Williams-pose nude (I almost forgot about that) and this crazy dude Don Imus-who said nappy headed hoes on air. There was a sincere apology and inspired actions that transformed and transitioned these cases of brand destruction into positive public figures.

What are your thoughts?

Be Unstoppable

The value of today. I never really understood the value of each day until my mom passed away…I never really understood the value of today until my freedom was snatched away. Today is a defining moment. I live for today. I grind for today. I love for today.~ Lucinda Cross~

What is stopping you from doing and being all that you can be?

What is stopping you from going where you want to go?

What is stopping you from saying what you want to say?

The more you look deep within and realize that there is bliss just waiting to be exposed. No on can stop you but you.   To change at a deep level, you have to go within and find those old beliefs, confront them, and trash them.

This is what Steven Pressfield had to say about this: “RESISTANCE will tell you anything to keep you from doing your work. It will reason with you like a lawyer, or jam a nine millimeter pistol in your face like a stick-up man.”

Compromising Makes You Irrelevant

#1 Irrelevant tip: Be all over the place, become a Jackie of All Trades and a master of none.
#2 Irrelevant tip: Low ball yourself and let others know that you are afraid of success…this really helps you to become passionately poor quick.
#3 Irrelevant tip: Keep listening to other people, start listening to your dream snatchers and your haters in disguise. You know the ones who don’t do much but always have a lot to say.
#4 Irrelevant tip: Keep procrastinating and thinking you have all the time in the world.
#5 Irrelevant tip: When you get rejected the first time, take that as a sign that this is not for you.
#6 Irrelevant tip: Keep comparing yourself to others. The more you mind other peoples biz, the less you will focus on your own.
#7 Irrelevant tip: Never ask for what you want, never raise your standards, never stand up for what you believe in.
#8 Irrelevant tip: Never ever build a platform, just keep waiting by the phone or hoping that someone may recognize your talent.
#9 Irrelevant tip: Don’t blog, don’t write, don’t package, don’t position, don’t network and don’t you dare tell someone you have a dream.

All of these tips will keep you irrelevant in the marketplace. Please do something about this. Join “Team Red” at The Activate Intensive http://tinyurl.com/as5a6hv

This is for my #1 Procrastinators

Hi my name is Lucinda Cross and I am a recovering procrastinator. I stopped using procrastination in 2009 when I was leaving an important meeting at WLIB radio and my car was towed. That was a $1400 dollar lesson.

First, I procrastinated in leaving the house, which led me to park on the street instead of a garage, which was a result of my procrastination in not paying my past parking tickets. Procrastination is an addiction and it will take over your life.

Don’t wait until your stuff is taken away before you take action. Activate don’t procrastinate. Activate Your Life Today
