Snap Out Of It! It’s Time To Rise!

Reason #10 to attend the Activate Conference:

Good is no longer enough. It’s time to do better.

You’ve tried and pushed and made some progress. That’s good. But there’s so much more for you to accomplish. You’ve got big dreams that need to be conquered and it’s not going to happen overnight. You’ve set goals that need to be reached and they’re nothing to “shake a stick” at. This means that good is no longer enough. It’s time to do better.

The Activate Conference is your tool to doing better. You’ll be surrounded by people who have embraced their progress and are very proud of all of the blood, sweat and tears they’ve put into books, messages, relationships, businesses and personal achievements. These people started out with a vision that has evolved into a passion and ultimately, the passion has turned into a purpose. But what’s even more powerful about the Activate Conference attendees, speakers, ambassadors and volunteers is that they’ve made a vow to turn it up a notch. They are taking serious strides to go from good to better. You deserve to be one of these people!

The truth is, it’s easy to settle with thoughts of being in a “good place”. Nothing is broken. So why should you bother fixing it? The answer is simple. If you honestly felt that your “good place” was enough, you wouldn’t spend as much time as you do fantasizing, journaling, sharing, building, observing, wishing or hoping. You’d be just fine where you are. The mere fact that you’re looking forward to something—anything— means you are ready and willing to go from good to better.

So you’ve got the readiness and willingness. Now all you need is to be able to go from good to better. The Activate Conference provides you with the ability. You will connect, grow and build. You will hone in on strengths you have pushed aside or refused to accept. You will shake hands, exchange business cards and conversations. You will learn and become activated. You will walk away knowing you have all of the power to go from good to better.

Finish Writing Your Book

The quickest way to finish writing your book is to WRITE IT. Don’t make this complicated. Pick a specific time of day that you are most relaxed and most creative. Use that time to write for the next 30-60 days non stop.

I am a late night writer and so I get my inspiration around 2am. I schedule that time in my calendar as a date with myself, the house is quiet the kids and hubby are asleep.

Sojourner Truth could not write but she was an author. She used her book that was a narrative to support her on her mission. Sojourner never learned to read or write, but she used what she had, to get what she wanted.

Excuse me what did you say your excuse was again?

Activate Your Life Today

The question I hear from clients is: How to get booked and stay booked in an overbooked economy?

If you don’t have any speaking engagements lined up, prepare yourself like you do. Start today.

Act As If!

Go get your props, draft your main points you want to discuss, pick the outfit you are going to wear, have your raffle prizes, and put your “back of the room” offer ready.

Always Be Intentional and Always Move In Expectancy.

Many times I will go get an outfit or go to the craft store for props and on my way there or back, I get an invitation via email or phone. It’s not a coincidence, it’s setting clear intentions.

Activate Your Life Today

Abundance appears when you choose to solve one problem over many. Abundance appears when you stop bargaining and start brainstorming. Abundance appears when you become teachable. Abundance appears when you stop saying “me” and start thinking of “we”. Abundance appears when you release your fears and embrace your flaws. Abundance comes from the heart and is exemplified in your every thought and word. ~Lucinda Cross

Try Something New For 30 Days

I love challenges, and the best way to get me to do something is through short and consistent action steps. Starting today I am embarking on a personal 30 Days of More.

I will wake up at 5am for the next 30 days consistently to meditate, pray and work out. I usually get up at 5am, say my prayers and go back to bed for a quick 45min snooze before waking the kids up for school.  The purpose of me waking up at 5am is to build spiritual strength. California workers compensation lawyers will help you claim your rights in case of back and neck injuries. Spiritual strength equals more life, more happiness, more money, more opportunities, more, more and more. There is something about the morning and getting spiritually grounded that helps my day flow. I am more alert and aware, I am more creative and productive. I am ready for 30 days of more.

What are you willing to do consistently in 30 days, that you may add or remove in order to live better?

(I will report my results as I go along so stay tuned and please feel free to post your personal 30Day challenge for yourself. I encourage you to share yours below so we can celebrate together and encourage each other.)

Do you remember your childhood dreams?

Do you remember your childhood dreams?  I was inspired after reviewing this video by Randy Pausch on his lecture called “The Last Lecture.”

What are some of your childhood dreams?

How many of those dreams have you achieved?

Make this year the year that you begin to pursue some of those childhood dreams.

Here is a list of some of my childhood dreams:

  • write a book
  • meet the President
  • be a late night talk radio show jockey
  • be on the Huckstables show
  • travel to Africa
  • fly a plane
  • be an Actoress
  • be in the Guinness Book of World Records
  • be on the cover of a magazine
  • walk a modeling runway

Comment and share a few of your childhood dreams?

How To Avoid Distractions (vlog post)

Avoiding the distractions is one of the hardest yet simple techniques that most people find hard to do.

Watch this quick video on How to Avoid Distractions and share it with your circle.  One lucky viewer who comments and shares the video will have the opportunity to attend my 1 Day Intensive here in NY in December 2012.

Excellence is in the details. Give attention to the details and excellence will come.

– Perry Paxton

It’s not what’s happening to you now or what has happened in your past that determines who you become. Rather, it’s your decisions about what to focus on, what things mean to you, and what you’re going to do about them that will determine your ultimate destiny.

3 Lessons I Learned From My HORRIFIC Jet Blue Flight

My worst flight everA lot of people are afraid of dying in a plane crash. I was a Jet Blue lover and rider up until this weekend.  I was heading to Florida to keynote at a fabulous conference. I will fill you in on the grade A, top notch treatment in the next blog post. For now let me share my experience with Jet Blue that taught me a valuable lesson on communication.

Due to the rainy and cloudy weather on Friday I expected some turbulence and delays, but what happened in the first 45 minutes of the ride had me in a state of shock. I thought my prayers of going to another level in life was about to be answered in another form and soon I would be meeting my maker.  lol

The plane made several roller coaster moves, but the last three moves felt as if the plane was falling out of the sky. The plane made a huge drop. People were holding on to each other, screaming and yelling “get me off”, “Oh my God”, you name it and they were yelling it.  The stewardess were not calming the crowd nor comforting the people.

All we heard from the pilot during the huge drop was “crew sit down”.

There were no comforting words, for all we knew we were about die. I have been on plane rides from one hour to 12 hours.  I have never been in a situation where the pilot or his crew did not calm the people down and/or inform us that we were experiencing heavy turbulence or flying through some air pockets.

I wanted to hear from the pilot during or afterwards.

I wanted to know that everything will be okay.

I wanted to know that this was heavy turbulence and would last for another??? minutes.

The absence of hearing from the pilot put everyone in a state of shock, including myself.  My legs were shaking, my heart felt like it was about to pop out of my chest, and my hands were hurting from holding on to my seat with all my might to avoid bumping my head.

So here are three lessons I learned from my horrific Jet Blue flight:

  1. Always communicate, give people a heads up on what to expect
  2. Be sensitive to others needs
  3. Never eat before you take a Jet Blue flight

Please feel free to share your horrific flight story.

Get a new ’tude

Yep, you need a new attitude if you are walking around with stinking thinking and expecting other people to cover up the funk. Please change your attitude towards your situation so that you can see the goodness and greatness in what you already possess.  In order to maximize and leverage your personal or professional life, you have to be grateful for what you have and who you are becoming.

Why should your business increase if your attidue is the same? Why should your marriage improve if your attitude is still the same? Why should you be called and chosen if your attitude is the same ole stinky thinking?  Get over yourself and move on.

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home.” Charles Swindoll

I had a conversation with someone who often times goes into a complaining spree.  She complains that things are not working out, that she can’t find a job, that she hates where she lives, that she is tired of “making do” and needs some real money.

Now I am completely sympathetic to her needs and her cry.  But the pity party is where I draw the line. Let’s do a little compare and contrast.

Compared to someone sleeping on a concrete floor or wooden bench, she has a warm bed and clean sheets.

Compared to the dirt under that pan-handlers nails and the hole in her sneakers, she has a $45 french gel tips and $18 pedicure.

Compared to the  bedbugs, this child lost everything from being in shelter after shelter, she has $75 hair extensions and a perm, including the extra $$$ to get conditioner.

Compared to her Victoria Secret bra and the lady who just got the news that she has to have a mastectomy.

Oh here is one more….

Compared to the fact that she graduated school and has skills she can build on, compared to the child who doesn’t know how to read because she was told to quit school and work.

I think most people need to have a gratitude check.  When you look at the comparison above who has the advantage? Who needs a new attitude of gratitude?

We do need to realize that God does not give us more than we can bare, and this too shall pass.

What are you grateful for? Go ahead and take 2 seconds to post it…take time to do a gratitude check right here, right now.
